Yaqoob Bashir,the 25_year_ old pakistani christian who was accused of insulting Islam prophet,spend his condemnation in a bad mental condition.
According to Mohabat News, Yaqoob was arrested once, in charge of burnning Islamic books in 2015.
According to persecution News Agency,Yaqoob was transferred to criminal court last month, his crime was determined as, insulting Islam prophet,however he cleared in this case,but at the same time ,he was accused to insult Quran.
Many of human rights advocates in Pakistan reported that ,most of the Pakistani Christians facing violence because of abuse and blasphemy .
During Bashir’s three years and three months of imprisonment , approximately 96 hearings were conducted as a part of his trial.
Bashir was attacked by other prisoners during this period and persecuted mentally and physically several times.
This Pakistani christian,in June 2018, was brutally beaten by prisoners,and was injured seriously. The young man requested twice from supreme and local court of Hyderabad,to release him on bail ,but his appeals rejected.
Since Bashir was arrested ,his family also have been persecuting by extremist Muslim groups. His mother said ,» This is unbearable and unjust,My son is innocent. He did not insult or do blasphemy . He does not care much of these issues as his mind works differently than of a normal person.”
Imtiaz Amanat, Legal Aid Coordinator at Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace, told that:»The blasphemy laws need reform.there are a number of case studies where these laws have been misused against the most vulnerable segments of the society. Yet, these laws are mute about mentally disabled persons, children, and intention. Because of this, these laws have created an atmosphere of fear in Pakistan.”
